EUROPEAN STUDIES IN EDINBURGH

Europea Institute About

The Edinburgh Europa Institute is the University of Edinburgh’s research centre on European integration.

Founded in 1968, it is one of the most longstanding institutions of its kind in Scotland and the United Kingdom.

A collaboration between the School of Social and Political Science and the School of Law, the Institute brings together over 40 Member academics specialising in the politics, law, economics, governance and institutions of European integration.

Members of the Institute support Master’s and PhD programmes in European studies in their respective Schools at the University.

The Europa Institute offers a range of public events, including lectures, panel discussions and conferences, with some of the most important figures in Scottish, UK and European politics.

Situated in the heart of Scotland’s capital, the Institute benefits from a vibrant environment and it is in close proximity to the Scottish Government, Scottish Parliament, the local offices of EU institutions and many other organisations.

The Europa Institute functions as a meeting place for academics and practitioners alike and it supports an engaged undergraduate and postgraduate European studies student community.
